“Documentation, Studies and Planning for the Stabilization and Conservation of Al-Hadba Minaret in Mosul”

Mosul is the main and largest city in the liberated areas of Iraq. The battle for the retake of Mosul, concluded in July 2017 after several months of armed conflict, inflicted a severe damage to its Old City. Circa 60 percent of the historic urban fabric has been severely affected, with a significant loss of integrity within the historic core. More than 500 buildings are destroyed, while about 5,000 structures are damaged. UNESCO is mobilizing resources to implement a series of projects and activities to restore the historic urban fabric of the Old City of Mosul including Employment Intensive scheme.
